At CTE we have developed a low cost, short lead time, Hydroforming process.
Hydroforming is the process of forming sheet metal or tubular forms, using high pressure water, into bespoke tooling. The main advantages of this process are:
- Forming of complex shapes accurately
- High degree of repeatability
- Reduced labour time
- Short lead times, typically 3-4 weeks
- No seam welds as seen on a pressed part, a potential failure point
- Low production costs when looking at high volume of parts
To enable us to assess the suitability of a part and material for Hydroforming we have the ability to simulate the process in house. From this simulation, we can determine the stress points of the part during the process and adjust the tooling or the material state to compensate. Once the simulation is complete we are able to present a complete assessment of the part, this can include areas of stress or specific thinning and whether these fall into the customer’s criteria.
With the Hydroforming process closely aligned to our in-house CAD and machining capabilities we are able to control everything from start to finish. This capacity not only ensures the shortest lead times, but it also makes CTE one of only a handful of companies with these processes under one roof.
